The legend is back!
August 2025 marks the start of a new era for the Zegul brand: Szymon Mackiewicz - the boss of WIG Kayaks - has taken over the Zegul brand and moved production from Estonia to his factory in north-east Poland near Suwalki. This means that Zegul and WIG Kayaks now come from the same factory. With the new design, the kayaks in the Kevlar / carbon layup are now even lighter and benefit from technical innovation. Production processes such as vacuum infusion make the kayaks lighter and more durable.
The production of Zegul Kayaks
At the start of our collaboration as a sales partner for Zegul and WIG Kayaks in Europe, we visited the production site:

Layups
Each kayak is created in the corresponding mould of the model: gelcoat, fabric and resin are carefully prepared and laid here.
Vacuum Infusion
The Carbon/Kevlar, Carbon and Ultra Carbon layups are manufactured using the vacuum infusion process. The epoxy resin is pressed into the fibre under pressure and excess resin is extracted. This leads to a lighter and more durable result.
Assembly
The two halves of the kayak are removed from the moulds and joined together. Then add-on parts such as the coaming, seat and steering are prepared.
Nahtband
The side seam tape and keel strips are laminated on.
Quality control
Each kayak is carefully checked again according to a checklist before it leaves the factory.
Packaging and transport
Your kayak will be properly packed so that it is protected during transport. It is transported to us in regular shipments by lorry.
