The legend is back!
The Danish kayak company Arrow Kayaks was founded in 2009 by Nicolai Ilcus, and several of the kayaks were designed in collaboration with Jesper Kromann Andersen. The first kayak they developed together was the Arrow Play HV. This was followed by the Arrow Nuka in 2010 and then the Arrow Empower.
In the following years, Nicolai Ilcus continued to work alone and developed the Arrow Play MV and the Arrow Play LV, before the Arrow Nuka GT finally completed the product family. The Greenland-inspired Arrow Ivalu, designed by Martin Antoni Nielsen, was the last kayak to be launched by Arrow Kayaks.
The first kayaks were manufactured by Tahe in Estonia, but due to quality issues, Nicolai Ilcus soon decided to move production to the Cobra factories in Thailand. In order to offer faster delivery and kayaks in special colours, a parallel production was started at Charger in Finland.
The kayaks from Arrow Kayaks were innovative and offered a modern, more efficient and more beautiful alternative to traditional sea kayaks, especially those from England. Arrow became a huge success throughout Northern Europe. In 2014, Nicolai sold the company to Tahe Outdoors in Estonia.
After several years of declining quality, Tahe Outdoors sold Zegul Kayaks and Arrow Kayaks to kayak manufacturer Kim Kemp from Denmark in 2025. Production was transferred to Szymon Mackiewicz with his factory for WIG Kayaks in Poland. There, a number of changes were introduced to improve quality, the Arrow kayaks now come with the same robust and lightweight layup as the kayaks from WIG. Now a new adventure begins!
