The kayak for expeditions where everything is possible
Skim Beaufort Sea Kayak
The Skim Beaufort is a kayak for the most difficult conditions. It combines a playful character with numerous features that make it a kayak suitable for expeditions.
Even fully loaded, the Beaufort remains an easy-to-control boat with maximum stability and high speed. This combination of playful handling and suitability for expeditions seemed impossible for a long time.

The advantages of the Beaufort
Features at a glance
Challenge Series
Beaufort and Braveheart combine many features such as the rigid deck construction and robustness. The Beaufort differs particularly in its hull and waterline.
Negative tail
The atypically shaped stern lengthens the waterline and improves tracking. This is how agility and speed are combined.
Rigid deck construction
The recessed deck strip creates a stiffer deck,
lower center of gravity, and allows water to drain off the hatch covers.
Well integrated seating position
Easily accessible from the seat: skeg, two day hatches and the two luggage nets.
Paddle float clamps
Behind the deck is the device to securely fix the paddle at the support in the middle of the kayak. This helps with solo respawning.
Fast draining cockpit
A feature of all Skim models: The sloping bulkhead behind the seat allows the kayak to be emptied quickly and reliably.

Large cockpit hatch and comfortable seat
The Beaufort's cockpit measures 79 cm x 41 cm. If you want it more spacious, you can also choose the XL variant of the Beaufort. The hull is identical there. However, the cockpit is larger.
Generous hatches
The Beaufort is easy to load through the oval hatches. The storage space is plentiful, making it an expedition-ready sea kayak.
day storage compartment
The Beaufort has an additional day storage compartment.
keel jump
The Beaufort has less rocker than the Braveheart. It is therefore the faster of the two.
Rescue Clamps
The rescue clamps behind the cockpit can be used to fix the paddle there. Supplemented by a paddle float, it makes re-entry easier.
Beaufort stern
The Beaufort differs from all other sea kayaks at first glance due to the unusual shape of its stern. This optimizes the waterline in relation to the overall length of the kayak.
Eike Koehler on the Skim Beaufort
Eike Köhler has been using Skim kayaks for many years for her expeditions and tours. He paddles the Beaufort and the Braveheart both in the low volume version. Here is the Beaufort LV report from his perspective:
